The year President Kennedy was assassinated - 1963
We were living in a block of flats in the central suburb of Hawthorn,a small flat in a good area.
This Sunday afternoon was one of relaxation as every Sunday was after the midday meal - usually a roast dinner. Mum had spent the morning baking the cake and biscuits for the forthcoming week and preparing lunch. After lunch she had gone to read on her bed as she usually did on Sunday. I was having an early bath ...Mum heard the news flash on the radio...we were completely stunned.
I was enjoying my first year of secondary shool at St Michael’s C.E.G.G.S., a private girls school run by Anglican nuns, The Sisters of the Church, but with lay teaching staff . The school schedule continued regardless.
