Father and Mother Chairs

heritage

My Great Uncle Jack's mother, Kitty, was married to Dick Butler and lived on a property near Creswick, in country Victoria. Dick died in his early thirties and she raised two boys on the property.

I inherited Father and Mother chairs from their home (the Father chair is shown here), a place where I learnt to enjoy history and family association when teaching at nearby Daylesford as my first teaching appointment in 1974.

Great Uncle Jack was born in and died in the same house. I grew to know him well as a bachelor in his seventies with a love of his land, a keen sense of fun, irony, and a great love for Ballarat Bertie Beer!
